OUR STORY

Located in the Melbourne Building, in the first separate titled tenancy to be built in the historic building, Charcoal Restaurant is Canberra’s oldest restaurant. It has been operating continuously since it first opened in 1962, and continues to cater to the capital’s steak lovers, as it has done for over five decades. With its original interior still intact, Charcoal Restaurant is a Canberra institution; a step back in time to the days of  Rat Pack aesthetic and classic twentieth century charm.
